(Contract) Media Systems Migration Engineer (Avid MAM & Cloud Archive Migration)

Type: Contract, per-project.
Location: Remote - within LATAM time zones (GMT-3 to GMT-5)
Availability: Contractor (40 hours per week)

Role Summary

A global media organization is modernizing its archival ecosystem, migrating content, metadata, and workflows from a legacy Avid MAM + DIVA + AWS S3 environment into Mimir MAM and Google Cloud Storage (GCS). We are seeking a Media Systems Migration Engineer with strong Avid MAM expertise, hands-on experience working with AXF metadata, and solid Python engineering skills to support media and metadata migration workflows.
This role focuses on metadata integrity, AXF analysis, transformation, validation, and ingestion, rather than infrastructure or DevOps ownership.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze and process Avid AXF exports (assignments, stories, clips, media objects).
• Extract, validate, and normalize Avid metadata using Python-based workflows.
• Map Avid metadata to Mimir MAM schemas and generate compliant JSON sidecar files.
• Validate media readiness across Avid, DIVA, and AWS S3, including checksum and object verification.
• Support ingest testing into Mimir MAM and validation of media presence in GCS.
• Enhance and maintain Python workflows for metadata transformation, validation, and migration orchestration.
• Identify and resolve metadata inconsistencies, legacy formatting issues, or corrupted exports.
• Produce technical documentation and participate in validation and acceptance testing cycles.

Must Have

• Hands-on experience with Avid MAM (mandatory).
• Strong understanding of Avid metadata structures, AXF packaging, and assignment/story relationships.
• Experience working with DIVA Archive and media object validation.
• Solid Python engineering experience for:
• Metadata parsing and transformation
• Workflow automation
• Data integrity validation and error handling
• Experience validating media and metadata during large-scale migrations.
• Familiarity with object storage systems (AWS S3 and GCS).
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience in large-scale media or archive migrations.
• Background in broadcast or news media environments.
• Experience with Mimir MAM ingest workflows and proxy generation.
• Exposure to cloud migration tooling, monitoring, or transfer orchestration.
• Experience preparing operational documentation or runbooks for media teams.
