A Day in the Life

The role of the Market Access & Public Affairs is to lead and support the development and implementation of strategic market access plans and new business model plans with the Medtronic Business Operating Units to favor Medtronic’s market share, positioning, and commercial objectives in Argentina & Uruguay. An exceptional ability to understand and engage with policy and key healthcare decision-makers is required. A deep understanding of Market Access 5 pillar methodology and PAA evaluations are essential, supported by a relentless focus on understanding the market barriers and a focus on flawless execution. The role will be flex model in Buenos Aires.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of health care policy activity in Argentina and Uruguay, interpret for business impact, and participate in cross-functional projects internally or externally to influence and enhance position within changing environment, anticipating policy changes to capture every opportunity and manage the potential crisis in advance
  • Identify Market Access Barriers and business opportunities and build Market Access Plans and related strategies to support product commercialization and expansion for key Operating Units within Argentina and Uruguay
  • Guides the company on legislative and regulatory affairs with elected officials and government officials in regulatory agencies
  • Monitors progress of legislative and regulatory issues of interest to the company and provides analysis and strategic management to the executive board of the Company
  • Build strong relationships with payers and government officials to position MDT as a strategic partner and leverage business opportunities 
  • Deploys strategy for and visits elected government and regulatory officials to advise them of company issues
  • Directs and works with designated trade and business associations and advocacy groups on important political, legislative, and regulatory issues to the company to build alliances and leverage the company’s goals
  • Assist operating units in study design and results evaluation to enhance capabilities in evidence generation as needed
  • Map, design, implement and update strategic engagement plans with key stakeholders to advance Medtronic’s business objectives in Argentina & Uruguay – aligned with MA Cluster Lead

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • University degree in health, health economics
  • Seven years of experience in the areas of access to the health market, marketing, reimbursement, results investigation, payer and provider administration, technology evaluation, health policies and other related fields
  • Experience in the successful implementation of market access initiatives and/or strategic plans for participation and promotion in public affairs
  • Intermediate English
  • Previous experience with medical devices and/or the pharmaceutical industry is valued. If you prefer the knowledge of health service provision systems
  • Knowledge with MS Office
  • Understanding policies and the health environment and Power BI is advantageous
