JPMorganChase is seeking a Senior Vice President Site Lead Engineer/Developer to lead the AuthE delivery/engineering group in Buenos Aires within the CTO Line of Business in Global Technology.

AuthE (Authentication Everywhere) is JPMorganChase’s next-generation, firm-wide customer authentication platform. It is a multi-deployment platform with production deployments across JPMorganChase data centers and JPMorganChase public cloud tenancies, engineered to meet 5x9’s availability requirements. AuthE serves all JPMorganChase Lines of Business and plays a critical role in enabling the firm’s Payments business processing in excess of USD $12T/day.

This is a player/coach role: the team is intentionally lean, and the successful candidates is expected to provide strong technical leadership and operational ownership while remaining partially hands-on, contributing directly to engineering delivery and authentication outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Site & Team Leadership

  • Serve as the site/team lead for the AuthE delivery/engineering group in Buenos Aires, responsible for local execution, team performance, and delivery outcomes.
  • Lead, mentor, and coach a small team of Java developers, IAM subject matter experts, and operate staff, building a strong engineering culture focused on reliability, security, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive execution across a geographically dispersed organization, aligning priorities, delivery plans, and operational readiness with global leadership.

Hands-on Engineering & IAM Delivery

  • Contribute directly to design and implementation through hands-on Java development and/or IAM technical leadership (at least one is mandatory; both strongly preferred).
  • Provide IAM expertise with emphasis on OAuth2 / OIDC, with additional experience in SAML2 and FIDO2 / Passkeys highly valued.
  • Provide technical direction for secure authentication patterns, integration approaches, and service design suitable for large-scale enterprise environments.

Security, Risk, and Vulnerability Management

  • Own and drive remediation of vulnerabilities across Java applications, open-source dependencies, and/or vendor products—ensuring timely prioritization, tracking, and closure.
  • Embed secure-by-design practices including secure coding, dependency hygiene, and control-aligned engineering.
  • Apply strong understanding of cryptography concepts such as TLS and/or token/assertion signing and validation to ensure secure system behavior.

Operational Excellence & Production Support

  • Lead support of mission-critical authentication applications through L3 engineering support, ensuring stability, incident response readiness, and effective root cause analysis.
  • Provide leadership coverage and coordination for support needs during US business hours, including US holidays, as required by business-critical operations.
  • Drive observability, runbooks, operational metrics, and on-call maturity appropriate for financial-grade systems.

Agile Delivery & Tooling

  • Advocate for and apply Scrum/Agile SDLC practices to improve predictability, throughput, and quality.
  • Use and promote strong execution discipline through tooling such as JIRA for work management, tracking, prioritization, and delivery transparency.

Required Qualifications

  • VP-level technical team leadership/management experience in a player/coach capacity (hands-on while leading).
  • Experience leading teams in geographically dispersed environments (mandatory).
  • Strong hands-on Java development experience or strong IAM expertise (one mandatory; both preferred).
  • Mandatory experience prioritizing and remediating vulnerabilities affecting Java applications, open-source libraries, and/or vendor products.
  • Essential experience building and supporting mission-critical applications in financial services (high availability, reliability, and operational rigor).
  • Demonstrated ability to drive L3 engineering support for critical systems, including coverage aligned to US business hours as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • IAM expertise in OAuth2 / OIDC (strongly preferred), plus SAML2 and FIDO2 / Passkeys.
  • Strong applied knowledge of cryptography/security fundamentals such as TLS and/or token/assertion signing/validation.
  • Demonstrated advocacy and practice of Scrum SDLC.
  • Experience managing and supporting complex applications using JIRA (including delivery and production support workflows).

What Success Looks Like

  • The Buenos Aires AuthE team is consistently delivering high-quality, secure authentication capabilities with strong predictability.
  • Vulnerabilities and security risks are triaged and remediated with urgency and discipline, with clear reporting and governance.
  • Production health is excellent: incidents are handled effectively, root causes are addressed, and operational practices continuously improve.
  • Strong collaboration exists across regions, with effective execution despite time zone and geographic distribution.

Working Hours / Support Expectations

This role includes leadership of L3 support for mission-critical applications and may require coverage during US business hours, including on US holidays, based on operational needs.
