This role blends product ownership (vision, roadmap, prioritization, value realization) with hands-on technical leadership (architecture collaboration, integrations, scalability, interoperability) and people leadership (supervising and mentoring a cross-regional team). The incumbent will drive implementation and continuous improvement of governance tooling, metadata/catalog capabilities, MDM and data quality initiatives, and vendor-enabled solutions—ensuring measurable outcomes in managing and enabling Chevron data for AI readiness.
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for data governance enabling capabilities (governance tooling, metadata, cataloging, MDM/DQ enablers), aligned to enterprise priorities and measurable outcomes; translate governance needs into clear technical product requirements.
Lead data governance technology evaluation and tool implementation and drive integration with existing systems.
Metadata Management & Data Cataloging Strategy — Design and operationalize technologies for Metadata Management and cataloging and enable AI readiness assessments.
MDM & Data Quality Enablement — Deliver and enhance technology solutions to improve MDM and data quality and enable AI readiness of Chevron data assets.
Scalable Architecture & Enterprise-Ready Design — Partner with enterprise/solution architects to deliver scalable, performant data solutions with interoperability, maintainability, supportability with a sharp focus on OE and operational discipline.
People Leadership (Supervisor) & Cross-Regional Team Management — Coach/supervise engineers and analysts (growth plans, feedback) and foster a high-trust, delivery-focused culture
Stakeholder Collaboration & Change Management (Global Deployments) Partner with data governance office, enterprise architects, Cyber and other stakeholders to translate governance needs into technical solutions and drive alignment, adoption readiness, and sustained change, lead change management for global deployments (communications, onboarding, training, documentation, champion networks, feedback loops)
Vendor Evaluation, Tool Selection & Relationship Management — Lead/co-lead vendor evaluation and tool selection, manage vendor relationships through evaluation, deployment and operationalization, ensuring delivery against outcomes, contract expectations, and support readiness.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
Experience owning or leading a product/technical roadmap for enterprise data, analytics, platform, or governance capabilities (e.g., translating stakeholder needs into requirements, prioritizing backlog, and delivering measurable outcomes).
Hands-on technical leadership experience delivering data platforms or governance-related solutions in a major cloud environment (e.g., Azure) including environment setup, configuration, and operational readiness.
Experience implementing or integrating data governance enabling tools and capabilities (examples include data catalog/metadata management, data quality, master/reference data management, lineage, policy/security integrations, or workflow enablement).
Strong understanding of metadata concepts and lifecycle (capture/harvest, standardization, stewardship, discoverability, access controls) and how metadata supports AI/analytics readiness.
Proven ability to partner with architects and engineering teams to design scalable, interoperable, maintainable enterprise solutions; comfortable defining and validating non-functional requirements (performance, reliability, supportability).
Demonstrated end-to-end delivery experience—from discovery and design through build, rollout, adoption, and steady-state operations—using modern delivery practices (Agile/iterative delivery, release planning, risk management).
Stakeholder management and influence skills across business, governance, cybersecurity, architecture, and delivery teams; ability to translate between business outcomes and technical implementation details.
Experience leading to change management and adoption for enterprise/global deployments (communications, training/enablement, documentation, feedback loops, and continuous improvement).
People leadership experience (formal supervisor or strong matrix/team lead) include coaching, setting expectations, performance feedback, and fostering a high-trust delivery culture—especially in distributed/cross-regional teams.
Experience evaluating vendors and products, supporting tool selection, and managing vendor relationships through implementation and operationalization.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present to technical and non-technical audiences and produce clear requirements and operational documentation.
